The beaches are an integral part of any summer family holiday to the Vendee. From the Bay d' Aguillon to the Isle de Normoutier, miles of splendid sandy golden beaches and rugged coastline to discover.
La Roche sur Yon is the departmental capital of the Vendee. The historic port of La Rochelle is an hour's drive away. The bustling, cosmopolitan Nantes is just over an hour's drive from the gite.La Tranche sur Mer is one of the most popular beach town destinations of South Vendee and the start of a 7.2km stretch of sandy beaches following the coast past Longeville sur Mer to the pretty port of Jard sur Mer. Les Sables d' Olonne is the home to the world famous Vendee Globe round the world boat race.
Within a 15 minute drive of the gite is Moutiers Les Mauxfaits. It's annual Horse Fayre is authentic and enthralling. Also in Moutiers the annual Marche des Puces draws in hundreds / thousands of visitors to it's flea market that spreads through the main streets of the town. Bargins galore – not to be missed.
A world-class visitor attraction, just over an hour from the gite. This is a day out to savour and remember. An epic day out, worth an evening planning what you want to see and in what order before you go. Prepare to be amazed. And so on and so on.
The Marais Poitevin an historic are of wetland, an area of lowland originally reclaimed from the sea by monks in the xxx century. Get out on the Marais in a canoe or barque, and so on
